About me

I'm Emily Tomimitsu, a graduate student in CSUN's Mass Communications program. As a proud Guatemalan-Salvadoran, my thesis, Race for Representation, merges my passion for long-distance running with my commitment to advocacy.
Race for Representation focuses on creating a magazine that centers the experiences, advice, and stories of Latina runners. By putting their voices front and center, I aim to challenge the lack of diversity in running media and create a space for authentic representation.
I look forward to making strides toward a running community that is not only inclusive but also safe and empowering for all Latinas.
